I am a creative, forward thinking translational neuroscientist discovering and developing novel drugs for neurological diseases and injuries.I am currently the VP of Research at Convelo, where I lead the Biology and Efficacy efforts for the discovery of novel small molecule therapeutics to accelerate remyelination. Manage a team of 6 highly trained Scientists/Senior Scientists/Directors. Implemented AI machine-learning image segmentation to greatly accelerate and expand SEM-based myelin analysis.Prior to joining Convelo, I was part of the team which launched Nervgen to advance a regenerative treatment for spinal cord injury and other neuro-degenerative diseases (AD). Nervgen was founded based upon the foundational science from my (and others) graduate work in the Jerry Silver laboratory at Case Western Reserve University. I am the inventor of Intracellular Sigma Peptide (Lang et al, Nature, 2015), the precursor of NVG-291, currently finishing P1 clinical trials.From 2017-2020, I was an Executive in Residence at BioEnterprise, providing strategic, executive-management, fundraising and technical support to entrepreneurs/institutions. My primary focus was therapeutics, life-sciences and platforms.Prior to BioEnterpise, I was a regenerative medicine scientist at Athersys.I received a B.S. in Natural Sciences/Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin and Doctorate in Neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University.
