Hospitable. This may be in the form of introducing myself to a newcomer, staff or guest, to welcome them. I wish to provide a sense of community, and it begins with a handshake and a smile. I follow up with the use of the person's name during our exchanges. Receptive. Willing to receive criticism, entertain ideas, complaints or concerns. You’ll find me jotting notes in my pocket notebook so that nothing goes unaccounted for, and also, so that I’m able to further reflect.Communicative. Prepare staff to succeed by providing them with pertinent information, this may be notification of specials, changes in inventory, staff on hand, or special events and reservations. I will confront issues or misunderstandings promptly, either with a conversation to gain perspective, or when applicable, a firm request to correct.Responsibilities include: Build and maintain team morale by expressing gratitude through public recognition, complimentary meals and drinks, and/or practical jokes. Understand trends of the business, to use staff effectively, balancing labor and cost. Uphold the ambiance of the restaurant via cleanliness, presentation of dishes and beverages, appropriate lighting for time of day, and audio levels, allowing for easy listening and conversation. Recap each day with management, providing notes on staff, guests, events, issues, and inventory.
