As a Manager and Principal Consultant in the Consumer and Industrial group my role is operational responsibility for the Melbourne group, the building of strategic partnerships and the development of new business opportunities. At the heart of this work it is all about helping clients, plan and deliver new business strategy through the realisation of technology.

As a Project Engineering Manager and Systems Engineering Signatory for the Commonwealth's AP-3C aircraft upgrade program I successfully established and led project teams to identify, bid for, develop and deliver multi-million dollar installation designs for the AP-3C Aircraft acoustic, electrical and structural systems. Developing both commercial and technical frameworks for new projects I was able to manage a great team of people to consistently deliver projects on time and budget.

As Principal Engineer I was responsible for managing the design and production of all aspects of the aircraft’s electrical and avionics systems. The role also encompassed preparing, negotiating and managing contracts and project bids for US based clients including the Office of Naval Research and NASA.Through this period I designed and developed a new avionics architecture based upon distributed processing nodes utilising low cost automotive techniques. Through a detailed reliability analysis I was also able to identify and implement improvements to the aircraft that significantly increased aircraft lifetime. A great place to work and the team is still going strong even now.

Engineering Design Consultancy. Projects included wildlife tracking systems, timing systems for physics laboratories, the development of automatic weather stations for Antarctic deployment and the development of weighing and monitoring systems for sheep, Patagonian Tooth Fish and platypus.

The fun stuff! Responsible for design and development services for a range of complex scientific instruments for use in harsh and remote environments on both the Australian and Italian Antarctic programs. Projects included the development of an automated penguin weighing monitoring system; development of animal trackers; RFID technologies; instruments for upper atmosphere physics; and RFID systems for tracking the catch of Patagonian Tooth Fish on commercial trawlers.
