I had the great opportunity to work in DOWL's transportation planning and traffic engineering practice area, where I both worked on projects and oversaw and coordinated the work of other traffic engineers. While my emphasis was on Anchorage traffic analysis, I was also able to work on projects across Alaska.

While working at DKS, my primary responsibilities included assistant project management, technical support and analysis, report writing, community engagement, and presentations to public officials and stakeholders for transportation planning and traffic engineering projects. I enjoyed ongoing working relationships with staff from the City of Wilsonville, the City of Silverton, the City of Salem, the City of Canby, Marion County, Lane County, the Oregon Department of Transportation, multiple developers, and others. I performed transportation system plans, corridor plans, traffic impact studies, safety studies, and more. I also helped the City of Wilsonville develop a performance monitoring and reporting program.

Before switching to transportation engineering, I was planning to emphasize in structural engineering and obtained a research position with Dr. Paul Richards. Even though I ended up switching to transportation a few months later, I still finished my thesis on buckling-restrained brace frame design and testing.
