Track federal and state legislation impacting Air Force operations at respective installations. •Manages all aspects of engagement with elected officials, to include Congressional visits/hearings in Washington D.C. •Research, analyze, and prepare briefing materials on legislative impacts and policy for Air Force senior officials.•Provides counsel to General Officers, Wing Commanders, and Executive Senior Officials on legislative and regulatory inquires and changes which may impact the mission of the Air Force Sustainment Center.

Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) provides comprehensive non-partisan fiscal and program analysis for the Oklahoma State Legislature. LOFT works to assist the Oklahoma Legislature in making informed, data-driven decisions that will serve the citizens of Oklahoma by ensuring accountability in state government, efficient use of resources, and effective programs and services. • Develop, lead, and conduct independent program evaluations and special research studies to legislators and make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government.• Provide analysis of programmatic work by state agencies.• Evaluate program and effectiveness for the full spectrum of state activities, including health care, social services, education, public safety, natural resources, and the general administration of state government and its political subdivisions.

•Represent the Oklahoma Department of Veteran Affairs in advocacy on veteran education related issues before federal, state, regulatory agencies, higher education leaders and key policymakers. •Advise Oklahoma Secretary of Veterans and Military Affairs, Oklahoma Veteran Commission and other key stakeholders on policy development on both federal and state legislation impacting Oklahoma’s veteran community. •Assemble, compile, and analyze data related to major veteran-related issues. •Collaborate with state agencies, nonprofit organizations, program staff, and other sources for research information. •Prepare annual reports for state and ODVA leadership. Make recommendations for informed decision making to key stakeholders on veteran-related policy issues. •Participate on special committees or special projects including those involving legislative implementation.

The VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship is a semester-long academic experience that involves research, action, reporting and advocating on behalf of one of four veterans’ policy areas: Success in higher education; transitioning from military to civilian life; succeeding in the civilian workforce; and crafting the future of veterans’ health care. During their visit to Washington, each fellow will be paired with a VFW mentor and accompany their VFW state delegation around Capitol Hill for in-person meetings with their members of Congress. The fellows will also receive briefings from federal officials on ongoing policy initiatives, as well as learn techniques to work with the media when advocating on veterans’ issues. Upon returning home, each of the fellows will also be responsible for executing a community action plan, to include delivering their individual research papers directly to their respective congressional delegations.
