Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (Dvop) Specialist
CurrentProvide Case Management and Intensive Services to include vocational guidance and counseling services to veterans in the local employment office. Performs outreach to veterans in need of services. Responsible for counseling individuals towards their career goals, develops job leads, and assists clients with job searches. Develops and maintains relationships with employers for the purposes job placement of veterans; makes cold calls on businesses/prospective employers. Develops job orders from employers, send veterans resumes, assist in scheduling interviews, and follow up with employers and veterans. Organizes job fairs, attends outside job fairs, and arranges interviews; meets with veterans one-on-one to determine job interests and complete required paperwork for intensive services as required. Provides resources to veterans for their job search. Maintains weekly reports regarding placement and job development outcomes to Regional Operations Manager, provides professional guidance and expertise in developing high quality resumes. Stages mock interviews for prospective employees Performs special projects and other duties as required. Perform intensive review of employer job announcements to match skill requirements against applicant data-base. Screen, interview, and refer qualified applicants to employers or to related job openings. Maintain working relationships with prospective employers and promote the use of public employment programs and services Conduct Job related workshops including: Writing a Resume and Cover Letter, Interviewing Skills, Internet job Searching.
