Provide expertise and guidance on logistics and property accountability matters to support the product team's mission. Inspects a variety of armament materiel such as towed and self-propelled artillery, tank turrets and weapons, small arms, chemical weapons, and similar materiel as well as optical and fire control equipment. Uses a wide variety of test and diagnostic equipment such as borescopes, pullover gauges, nitrogen pressure gauge, and other tools and tests used in inspection of armament to determine extent of repairs required and assure that repairs or modifications meet quality assurance standards.Inspects the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Serves as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT).Utilizes established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Considers a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical. Recommends to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair cost exceeds the established MEL.Cooperate with material managers, item managers and field service engineers to maintain fully mission capable weapon systems throughout the state of Massachusetts. Coordinate Modification Work Order (MWO) operations with depot level maintainers and Logistics Assistance Representatives (LAR) such as TACOM, PM-TAS and BAE Systems.Maintain inventory and control of high value sensitive items by utilizing an intrusion detection system (IDS), safe rooms, combination vaults and secure cages.Maintain access to government issued purchase card account and coordinate purchases using government funds through GFEBS and US Bank.

This work requires detailed knowledge of mechanical, and a practical working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems; the ability to recognize improper operation, locate the cause and determine the best method for correcting defects; and the skill to fit and adjust parts and assemblies.Read technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to determine clearances, torque specifications, and proper fit and adjustment of assemblies.Determine whether to repair or replace parts, refit assemblies to tolerances, assemble the units, test fire them, and perform final adjustments.
