As a Network Consulting Engineer with IPNGN, I work with tier 1 service providers to test new features, design changes, and scale on Cisco IOS-XR before general deployment. We generally focus on service provider routing technologies such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and multicast. After determining the new features to be tested and to what scale, we simulate the relevant portion of the network based on the design and verify the functionality. This testing involves working with network simulation equipment such as IXIA and Spirent.
