Growing up in Samoa I saw firsthand the need for medical support all around me, and from that, I became obsessively focused on how I could solve this problem. I always saw myself entering the medical field as a doctor or as a medical staff but being in a period that has seen technology continuously advance, I was drawn to how technology could not only save lives but improve them. At the same time seeing Samoa graduates from the Least Developed Country list because of the reliance on relevant innovative technology. With the meshing of Biomedical Sciences and Technology, I found myself walking the path of Biomedical Engineering. Now having graduated with my BS in Biomedical Engineering I am focused on increasing my Computer Science skills and leadership qualities through my current MSc in Engineering. Since starting at California Baptist University, I strive to integrate both my academic and athletic abilities. I have been the Captain at an NCAA Division l Collegiate Swim and Dive team and have become accustomed to a team environment as well as leadership roles. My love for team interactions and biomedical engineering is evident in my most recent research project. During my Junior year, I was on a team researching the development and tracking of glaucoma using nanofabrication. Driven to work effectively, I aim to provoke problem-solving discussions between team members to improve decision-making. The combination of both team-oriented and task-oriented goals is what I try to implement into any work situation.I look forward to contributing both my biomedical abilities and team-oriented mindset to my future field.
