As a Texas A&M School of Law student with now two semesters under my belt, I am eager to delve deeper into the study of law and all of its dimensions. My interest in law began as a child when I observed how rarely people defend those in need. However, my understanding of the legal field and the role of an attorney expanded significantly when I studied biology, Spanish, and Mandarin at The University of Texas at Austin. While aspiring to be a lawyer, I recognized the importance of pursuing studies that both challenged and intrigued me.When I first began my biology courses, I had no idea how to harmonize my passions for science and law. Yet, after the first semester, I quickly realized that the law was embedded in each one of my classes. In my genetics lab, I saw the law through biotechnological inventions such as micropipettes and techniques such as gel electrophoresis. In my molecular genetics and medicine class, I encountered the law in genome editing technology such as CRISPR. And in my microbiology class, I saw the law in biological products like vaccines and other biopharmaceuticals. Whether it be a scientific invention, method, or analysis, it may be protected by the law. Here is when I looked into the sector of patent law, where a unique blend of scientific and legal acumen is essential. Finally, I found a specific path to follow in order to realize my legal mission. While at UT Austin, I also pursued a major in Spanish and a minor in Mandarin. My passion for languages is something I would like to bring with me wherever I find myself working. Being conversant in English and Spanish as well as an intermediate proficiency in Mandarin allows me to communicate in the three most widely spoken languages in the world. My aim is to leverage this proficiency to expand the clientele of any firm I work for.I acknowledge that I still have a lot to learn about the law as a rising 2L. But I am enthusiastic for the experiences that have yet to come and for the meaningful contributions I will make as I progress in my journey through my legal career.
