Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan is a leader in growing food security across Northern Michigan. Goodwill provides Food Rescue services to over 100 food donors, and delivers 1.5 million pounds of food annually free of charge to nearly 50 food pantries and meal sites. Additionally, Goodwill's Food Services division provides 700 meals daily to drug treatment centers, homeless shelters and senior feeding programs. These initiatives build resilience in the food economy and feed the stomachs and souls of Northern Michigan's most vulnerable citizens. Proud to have been a part of this incredible program. The Manistee Community Kitchen has been developed in response to Manistee County's obesity/hunger related needs. Because obesity is closely tied to employment and income level, by providing job training in conjunction with nutrition education the Kitchen works to grow a healthier future for our community. In my role, I served as the primary contact for the members of Michigan Nonprofit Association. With resources and services designed to increase the ability of nonprofits to advance their mission, MNA brings together a diverse group of nonprofit organizations from across Michigan.Membership is open to all Michigan nonprofit/tax exempt organizations and governmental entities. For-profit businesses are also welcome to join as affiliate members. There are currently more than 1,100 members in MNA's network. Dues for nonprofit organizations are based on budget size, and range from $80 to $1,100.
