For two years I worked day and night to develop interactive Storyboards and regular items for CAST (California Science Test) to align with NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards). Eight years of teaching science from grade 6-12 definitely came in handy. I really do believe that the NGSS is a way to move science education in the USA forward by leaps and bounds. I love knew technology, learning and overcoming challenges. I love teaching and working with individuals or groups with similar interests or causes to develop a more sustainable future.

The next year I was teaching paced classes using CScope and my own absolutely necessary creativity. Several preps per day were required. I loved and counseled each and every student, and it was my pleasure. I individualized curriculum not only for those for whom it is required, but also to allow for creativity and for each student to feel as if they had achieved.

I taught 6th grade science and horticulture for 7th and 8th grade. There was no specific curriculum, but there was scope and sequence that we were required to align to. Often language barriers and poverty were the biggest challenge I faced. I loved working for Harlandale, but was ready for a change of scenery and for older students.
