As first author, I conducted a literature review in collaboration with Dr. Carmen Sato-Bigbee exploring the role of the endogenous opioid system on oligodendrocyte development and myelination through literature review. The review investigated the effects of opioid exposure during pregnancy on brain development. Additionally, I independently investigated the usefulness of Nociceptin and NLRP3 as potential biomarkers of different forms of multiple sclerosis. I compared protein levels in cerebrospinal fluid samples from age-matched control and patient samples.
