Barents Group LLC was an emerging markets focused KPMG subsidiary headquartered in Washington DC with offices in 40 countries and 600 employees. The company was a part of the KMPG global network, but operated independently as a partnership, under a seperate brand name. Barents had 4 main divisions: 1) Financial Services. This unit conducted large Financial sector restructuring assignments all over the world. We developed banking supervision infrastructure in most of the former Soviet Union and were engaged in crisis interventions around the world. We also undertook large cost reduction or re-engeneering projects for large banks in Australia, Mexico and Indonesia. 2) Capital Markets. This unit built stock exchanges and provided advice on market infrastructre, trading systems, laws, self regulatory bodies. 3) Privatization. This unit advised governments on privatizations. 4) Tax and regulatory policy reform.
