I am responsible for providing customer support in additives for Construction Solutions (CS), Rheology Modifiers and Attapulgite. For the 5 subsegments comprising CS, I have developed easy-to-read 1 page marketing flyers to assist the sales team in the promotion of additives. The flyer comprises a list of the key additives for that particular subsegment. I am working to solve industry related pain points such as preparing roof coatings for future impending VOC regulations and developing starting point formulations that are Super Compliant.

I lead a team of 5 technicians and chemists which included managing projects and lab resources. I was responsible for removing roadblocks, team development and career coaching. Many of the individuals that I have worked with have advanced in their careers. In addition, I was also the primary technical contact for architectural customers in the Guild, CPO. I received a yellow belt in Six Sigma for launching a New Employee Safety Training program in Charlotte. I served as the Membership Chair for the Women in Business North American Leadership Team and was responsible for leading the membership chairs at the individual sites.

I provided direct technical support for additives to customers in the architectural coatings industry. I worked directly with customers to solve issues they may be having with their paint formulas. I also introduced new products to customers that could provide them a performance edge versus their competitors. I also brought value to BASF by developing marketing and sales tools for the promotion of our new and existing products. In addition, I led several projects to find alternative raw material sources to save on costs including moving manufacturing sites of some of our key products.

I lead laboratory projects relating to tile adhesive mastics and specialty coatings, including concrete, elastomeric roof coatings, coatings for oil and gas industry. I was able to expanded utility of unique styrene butadiene thickener into different market spaces. I also guided a team to develop new acrylic latexes.

I progressed from technician to chemist within 4 years and was consistently ranked in the top 5% for performance by providing excellent service to customers in eastern US, Canada and the Caribbean. I was selected to support the marketing team technically and promote the Rohm and Haas portfolio of Additives. This involved speaking at industry conferences, visiting with customers and providing information webinars. I helped to launch a new rheology modifier which generated 250,000 pounds of business in the first year. Note: Rohm and Haas was purchased by Dow Chemical Company in April of 2009.

I participated in an internal chemist exchange program to broaden coatings knowledge of stains, primers and high gloss paints. My role was to evaluate new polymers developed by the R&D team and compare them to current products in the industry. I would provide feedback to the R&D team regarding the performance of the experimental latexes. In addition, I would help to launch new products by benchmarking the new latexes versus competitive products and develop starting point formulations to promote the new products.
