I help train people how to communicate and interact with deafblind individuals,and nonverbal special needs individuals. I advocate for services needed by deaf blind and other special needs individuals and families. I help find services to meet their needs. I speak about deaf blindness and raise funds to support causes.I call politicians for their support on important issue that support deaf blind individuals. I make agencies aware of things they can do to provide best service to deaf blind and special needs individuals.

I was a contact for families to connect with other families. I helped find resources to support families on their journey in helping their children grow. I was part of planning committees to provide training to families and professionals on skills to help them in their work with deaf blind children and families. I attended trainings to teach me skills to work with families and provide resources and information to the families whose children are on the deaf blind census in WI. I worked with education professionals on planning events for families. I also could share from my own experiences, the struggles and information that parents of deaf blind children may want. I also gave incite to what emotional challenges they may be facing. I did this by calling families of children recently referred to the census to see if i could be of any assistance. I let them know I would be available if they had questions in the future.

I was on planning committee that planned a weekend retreat for families from throughout the state that had deaf blind children.The whole weekend was a fun filled. We had hands on learning, time available to network with other families in the state. It was safe nonjudgmental and supportive, inspiring weekend. this event was held at Wisconsin lions camp. I helped raise funds to support that weekend. I supported programs that they put on for families.
