When I started as a 911 Coordinator in 2002 I didn't know much about how 911 works, but I had been a 911 dispatcher since 1994. It was thanks to so many colleagues who helped me understand the workings of the 911 network, learn how emergency service districts effect database management and the assistance of valued vendors who helped me understand how each piece of equipment works that have made my job so enjoyable. So much has changed since I started dispatching, some really great technology advances, but the most important is the role of a quality dispatcher. I hope we never replace that with artificial 'intelligence', because nothing is more valuable than the human touch.
