"How can we make the world better?" Is a question I overwhelm myself with everyday. Of course there are too many answers to that question, but I try my best to enter each day with tangible solutions at the forefront of my mind. Given the current climate crisis our world faces, that is and will continue to have both environmental and societal impacts, I decided to major in Environmental Science. Whether it be sustainability communication, climate change mitigation/adaptation, environmental research, or renewable energy work there are many avenues I am interested in that can all make change.In the past two years at the University of Massachusetts Amherst I have worked hard to learn as much as possible in my classes as well as my relationships with others. Becoming involved with the UMass Sunrise Movement, Forestry Club and other groups, I have gained experience leading and communicating in environmental activism. I am now working two different internships that I believe will have a lot of impact in the world around me. As a Student Sustainability Coordinator with UMass Dining, I am working to implement sustainable changes on campus and educate students about the impacts of their choices. Alternatively, with the Massachusetts Ecosystem Climate Adaptation Network, I will be collaborating with professionals across the state to efficiently communicate new research and strategies to combat and adapt to climate change. I am very excited for the experience I will gain and relationships I will form through both of these opportunities. Whether or not you like hugging trees or going for hikes like me, climate change and sustainability affects us. I am determined to spend my life working for a sustainable and equitable future for all. However, what I am even more passionate about is communicating and inspiring others to join that mission and forge their own future. Conversations change the world, so let's talk!
