During my time learning programming, I have come to understand a new way of thinking. The logic and approach to programming is far different than anything I have come across. But given the opportunity, I came to understand this new way of thinking and was able to fulfill the task at hand. I have created over 50 AXI programs and over 100 AOI / ACCI programs; each bringing its own level of complexity and giving me the chance to learn further. My side duties involved machine maintenance on the AOI, ACCI and AXI machines. This could involve something as simple as a calibration or involved as replacing a circuit card or bearing assembly. Calibrations were performed every 6 months and utilized internal software in combination with a calibration board. I introduced new forms of inspection for use with the AOI and was able to find a solution to a complex problem causing AOI slowdown that had been in effect for many months. In this position I also dealt with CAD drawings and software. The CAD was used as the foundation for any program on the machines. This frequently involved editing, creating, and converting the CAD. Some of the more infrequent duties were the pulling and calculating of data. This data was then put into a presentation ready form and used to let production know what impact these machines had in the overall quality and timeliness of their product. Lastly, I would teach classes to others interested in running these machines in order to get them well versed and educated.

My main responsibilities included but were not limited to performing first article inspections and providing internal and external customers with pertinent information. While performing audits, I had to incorporate quality and manufacturing processes with customer guidelines to ensure not only that the product is being built to spec, but that we are following our own guidelines to keep everything running efficiently. I also spent a good portion of time building knowledge of the Cluso Inspection system. Nightly, I would perform Defect Data Reports; providing valuable information for the next shift. This information would include a detailed breakdown of the entire day’s defects, what the impact was to the cost of quality all while keeping a running chart of the past three weeks of defect totals. During my time as a Quality Inspector I received the opportunity to shadow a Quality Technician. For Six months I delved into the more technical aspects surrounding the quality systems and methodologies. After two years of service, I had become the go to person for any issues or questions people had. I had to independently balance many tasks and responsibilities. Lastly, once the optical comparator arrived, I headed up the operation which involved writing procedures and programs.

While working at IEC as a Junior Solder Manufacturer, I learned a great deal about the internal operations and how quality of work is the key to pushing out product. My responsibilities included following a strict and detailed process for each different piece of product I worked on. This entailed reading a Bill of Materials and understanding it as well as checking daily for updates to the process on the computer. My responsibilities also included soldering critical components whilst being grounded, ensuring the product remained safe against ESD at all times. Following the 5-S process at the end of the night would ensure that the work area remained clean and ready for the next shift to get to work quickly. I utilized all of these skills at every step of the process from SMT to Final FQA.
