I teach courses; advise students writing graduate and undergraduate theses; supervise research by postdoctoral fellows; conduct research, present it at conferences, and write it up for publication in refereed journals; and provide service to my department, faculty and university and to organizations beyond the University of Waterloo.

As Associate Dean - Undergraduate Studies in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, I am responsible for matters concerning our 2,300 undergraduate students (ranging from recruitment to discipline and curriculum to co-op employment).

I was responsible for overseeing undergraduate affairs in my department at the University of Waterloo.

I was a member of the board of the Invasive Species Centre (ISC), which seeks to coordinate the actions of the diverse bodies that manage invasive species in Canada, from 2011-2016. From 2014-2016, I was the elected Chair of the board; I led us in meeting several priorities, such as a 43% growth in income and much improved funding diversification and program spending. Ontario Nature has about 7000 members and an annual budget of about $2.5M. As President of the board of directors, I oversaw our large board and our executive director. I was a member of the board of Ontario Nature from May 2007 to May 2014 and a member of the executive committee from May 2008 to May 2014.

My post-doc was in the National Science Foundation's "flagship interdisciplinary training program" (http://www.igert.org), in the Biological Invasions IGERT at UC-Davis. It allowed me to complete a number of projects on invasive species and to begin some new ones. Although I could not supervise graduate students, I taught part of three seminars and advised several students working at the biology-society interface.

I completed my PhD while working as a teaching and research assistant and parenting my young daughter.
