As an English assistant, I worked directly with teachers to design and develop the English curriculum at an elementary and preschool in Marmande, France. I created immersive cultural presentations and lessons, as well as interactive activities focusing primarily on English communication. To increase student participation and curiosity, I implemented unique teaching methods, such as musical practice, in-classroom games and the production of a small play, all in English. I gained a stronger basis in my own public speaking and cross-cultural communication skills, while gaining new experience managing group dynamics. My experience as a teaching assistant and moving to a foreign country has taught me to be confident outside of my confort zone and has strengthened other skills as well, such as independence, multitasking and flexibility. Not to mention patience !

I formulated a research project aimed at examining an inverse relationship between homozygosity and the polygenic trait height in the Himba, an endogamous Namibian population. I created linear regression models to assess this relationship, using PLINK 1.90 to calculate and assess population FROH and an original R script which accounted for socioecological covariates. I summarized my findings in my Honors Thesis and presented my research at the annual conference at UC Davis. My thesis, "Examination of Runs of Homozygosity in relation to height in an endogamous Namibian population" was published the 20th of November 2022 in The American Journal of Biological Anthropology.

I would describe my time working as a receptionist at Asha Spa as rewarding and dynamic. Independently or with a small team, I worked to create a calm and peaceful ambiance to enhance customer experience. I gave tours and responded to inquiry while establishing rapport with clientele. I scheduled and modified reservations, and maintained smooth running of daily operations, adjusting to the variable rhythm of the day. I was also responsible for maintaining the appearance of the bathhouse and pH levels of the pools. These responsibilities allowed me to strengthen my reactivity and ability to work under pressure, as well as my customer service skills.

I was sponsored by my Art History professor from the Catholic Institute of Paris to conduct research on Caravagisme in 17th century France. I analyzed the painting "La Diseuse de Bonne Aventure" by Nicolas Regnier. I compiled my research and created a bilingual presentation focusing on the history of the artistic movement, the story being portrayed in the painting, and distinctive artistic elements utilized. I presented my work to the general public at the Louvre on 3 separate occasions, responding to questions, interacting in art interpretation and enhancing visitor experience.

I was a Peer Mentor for an International Education course with a focus on students studying the French language. I facilitated classroom discussions focusing on international culture and engaged actively with freshmen students adjusting to academic life. I was voted Most Enthusiastic by my peers.
