Brent Elder personal email
Brent C. Elder earned his PhD at Syracuse University in Special Education along with Certificates of Advanced Study in Disability Studies and Leadership in International and Non-Governmental Organizations. He was a special education teacher at a public elementary school in California from 2004 to 2012. While there, he created a successful inclusive education program. He also taught courses from 2010 to 2012 in the Teacher Education Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has collaborated with the US Embassy in Manama, Bahrain, and the Ministry of Education in Kenya as an education consultant. He is engaged in ongoing critical disability studies research focused on the intersections of disability, poverty, and education in post-colonial Kenya. During the 2015-16 academic year, he conducted his dissertation research in Kenya as a Fulbright scholar.
