Assisting consumers in enrolling in health coverage, reporting to the Health Insurance Caseworks System on the behalf of consumers who needed help and didn't know where they could get help against a major health insurance provider, and being able to answer general questions involving health insurance (defining terms or phrases that had been purposefully left ambiguous by the providers) and often correcting misconceptions regarding the legislation and what it actually says and does. I also often have to help clients with knowing what information will be needed for tax filing as of the institution of the Affordable Care Act, as well as how the Premium and Advanced Premium Tax Credits are calculated, applied, and how to be able to keep an application up to date so that if a different amount of money is reported by the consumer to the IRS than on the application that calculated their credit, it would be kept up to date enough that they wouldn't end up having to give the IRS a portion of the money back.Also, because of the amount of security needed for a position like this I'm very well aware of HIPAA as almost no line of work requires as strict adherence thereto as filing applications containing both personally and medically identifiable information to ensure our consumers feel safe when working through us.
