With a broad career spanning emergency service, mining, international contract management, security, process, procedure and system development and improvement and risk mitigation strategy, I'm not one to be ruffled easily. I have been told I am an impactful team leader, supporting individual focus on compliance, quality control, strategic planning, performance management frameworks and workplace & situational risk assessments in challenging environments. Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, I lead a team of six, responsible for implementation, training, compliance, and operational response across the above-ground open cut Blackwater site supporting safety outcomes for 350 staff per shift. I have also:• Successfully developed team members’ skill sets, implementing succession strategy to plan for emergency, disaster and leave requirements whilst also training in BMA system compliance, investigation, training and documentation of emergency incidents• Developed and embedded Equipment Compliance reporting procedures, recorded within SAP to replace manual and outdated medical and rescue equipment reporting. Ratified by HSE Superintendent, with improved preparedness including compliance inspections and reporting adopted across the site• Implemented emergency pre-plans including Confined Space Rescue Plans, Building Evacuation Plans, and area specific plans • Instigated daily team pre-start meeting ‘toolbox talks’ engaging operative staff in the ‘why’ behind drug and alcohol policies, safety and emergency response procedures etc. Reduced five per swing, to less than one ‘non-negative result’ from drug and alcohol testing • Improved rescue training grounds, completely cleaning and re-marking grounds and replacing outdated equipment and machinery with zero capex• Response to various incidents including HAZMAT, Road Crash Rescue (RCR), Search and Rescue(S&R), Vertical Rescue, Medical Evacuation, Industrial and Commercial Fire fighting• Implemented and assessed the effectiveness of Safe Operating Procedures, Safe Operating Practices and Emergency Response (ER) guidelines consistent with the core function of the ER Team• Constructed, conducted, and reviewed operational readiness drills and exercises annually and compliance evacuation exercises for all buildings as required by AS3745, analysing response times to draw meaningful data required to update processes

Contracting to BHP’s Mt Arthur Coal Project, I was approached through reputation and recommendation to provide interim support through a period of change whilst BHP transitioned from a ‘Volunteer model’ to a full-time dedicated Emergency Service Officer team appointment with a remit to provide contingency and settle in new procedures. During the appointment I was proud to have: • Participated in consultation and panel discussion with Senior Management of ‘Confined Space’ and WHS related matters. Based within the International Operations sector in Nauru, The Australian Border Force houses, advocates for and conducts security services to support the Australian Government with processing Asylum Seekers through their primary contractor, Transfield and then Wilson Global Security.Reporting to the Brisbane based General Manager – Contracts, I led four local Security Service Provider (SSP) teams of up to 60 personnel each, servicing three Regional Processing Centre’s across a 24/7 roster. Implementing a Performance Management Framework (PMF) and tailoring the PMF to suit local workforce conditions and compliance with Nauruan legislation, I was tasked with the arrangement and facilitation of mandatory training up to the Australian standard with a strong emphasis on workplace health and safety. Having joined the operation within six months of its conception, earlier roles required complete set up of all frameworks, processes, policies from the ground up in a high-profile, ambiguous a politically sensitive environment.• Implemented, facilitated and monitored change within each of the SSP’s respective businesses to meet the demands of the PMF Liaise with the Government of Nauru to seek agreement and support with the implementation of the PMF and the associated benefits for Nauru in future compliance reporting to the Department of Immigration & Border Protection – (Australian Border Force) • Ensured each SSP met sub-contract conditions and requirements, establishing procedures to meet conditions of a stringent PMF including Australian Standard WHS procedures, in a 12-month period - this was a key achievement for the Nauruan business community, establishing benchmarks for these entities to compete for business in the broader Pacific region
