LinkedIn I was born and grew up in New Zealand where, at an early age, found a love of computers and programming which led to the start of a career in Oracle database development in Australia, working in the finance industry.Eager to try out life on the other side of the world, I moved to the UK to gain experience as a contract Oracle Developer working in various industries: investment banking, utility, healthcare and government. While as an Oracle developer for a pharmaceutical company I found an amazing combination that continues to inspire me: using technology to help improve people's lives. Each clinical trial that we support helps bring life changing new products to market that extends/improves the lives of thousands of people - who for often, a clinical trial is their last hope. Building on this passion, I founded HMD Clinical, a global technology company specialising in SaaS solutions for clinical trials. Running a startup company means wearing many hats and juggling a lot of spinning plates: Finance, Quality (taking company through ISO9001 and ISO27001 certification), Sales, Human Resources, Project Management and Development to name but a few. At HMD we prided ourselves on being creative, proactive and exceeding the expectations of our customers and as a result developed a strong, long lasting and loyal customer base with lots of repeat business. During this period saw me move countries again, this time to Hungary where I gained my fourth passport! After 17 years at the helm of HMD, it was time to hand the reigns over to a bigger company that through investment and development could take our product to the next level. Throughout the acquisition period I trained and supported colleagues in sales, marketing, finance, quality, professional services, project management, development and support while re-engineering processes to enable rapid upscaling and growth. With over 20 years of experience of software development and delivery in the Life Sciences industry, I now work with teams of pre-sales consultants, architects, developers, testers, product managers, and support staff, helping them understand customer requirements, design, deliver and support bespoke solutions - while working with the product team on backlog and release roadmaps. My wife and I share our home with 2 cats and 3 dogs (and often others as we help out short term fostering of sick or rescued cats and dogs). When I'm not walking with the dogs along the Danube I love to eat out, go to the cinema and travel the world.
