Architected, developed, and maintained a multi-tiered monitoring system and tailored it for IT to enhance service to our business customers.Managed over 15,000 SCOM agents in both client and server environments.Developed SCOM management packs using both the standard console tools and Visual Studio when vendor supplied packs were nonexistent or did not meet the requirements of the business.Developed custom features in BMC Event Manager, such as timed event holding and on demand event blocking, that lessened the need for time consuming alert threshold tuning. These features also reduced the occurrence of event floods stemming from major problems or scheduled maintenance from multiple times a week to a few times a year.Developed an AJAX driven web interface to provide a single, simple self-service portal for users to access monitoring data. This reduced the need for costly user licensing and configuration in SCOM, BMC Event Manager, and xMatters.Developed a custom xMatters subscription domain that allowed users to self-manage events on demand. This enabled business and IT management to receive notifications relating to degradation of IT services at the same time as IT support, thereby eliminating nonproductive delays in communication.Developed an event adapter in Perl for BMC Event Manager that replaced the Seamless Technologies adapter eliminating tens of thousands of dollars in maintenance fees. This also removed the need to purchase additional event adapters and simplified integration of element managers into the IT monitoring system.
