Brett graduated with a B.A. degree in History and Political Science, cum laude, from the University of Alabama in 1992. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1995, also graduating cum laude. He began practicing law in Tuscaloosa the Monday after graduation with the firm of Davidson, Wiggins & Crowder. In July of 1997 he moved his practice to Birmingham, joining the Carr Allison firm, where he has worked for the past 15 years. Brett has extensive jury and non-jury trial experience in Alabama courts. He specializes in Transportation, Product Liability and False Claims Act cases. He also has significant experience with Premises, Environmental, Professional Liability, Employment and Construction litigation. He is presently Chair of Carr, Allison's Product Liability Practice Group. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been recognized as an Alabama Super Lawyer in the area of Transportation Litigation.Brett is a Member of DRI, the Voice of the Defense Bar, where he serves on various committees, and is currently Chair of the Lawyers' Professionalism & Ethics Committee. He is also a member of Trial Attorneys of America, Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA), the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and the Birmingham Bar. He is admitted to practice in Alabama state courts, the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.Brett is married to Jennifer Schreiner Ross.
