Brett graduated in finance and economics from the University of Waikato, New Zealand, and then embarked on an investment banking career in London. During the summer of 2001, Brett moved to Hong Kong where he remained in the banking industry and took a specific interest in emerging trade technologies. After a chance introduction, Brett became COO for a wagering hedge fund with more than $1 billion HKD annual turnover and 300 staff, he remained in this role until his return to New Zealand in 2009.After returning to New Zealand Brett launched Selkie Limited. Brett continues to work with artificial intelligence technologies and predictive statistical models to exploit inefficiencies in niche markets.
