About Brett Hendricks
A professional interdisciplinary educator and musician who is passionate about the edges of where music, philanthropy intersect is seeking employment complimentary to the long term goal of creating vibrant communities. Currently, we (Sound Causes) are working on a platform to connect musicians to organisations and projects to partner together with the aim of amplifying the impact and exposure of both. Sound Causes is in the beta testing stages and is seeking funding should you, or someone you know, be interested in the future of how music, technology and resource sharing can make an impact locally and globally. Having spent over a decade in the field of music, ecological education and Permaculture with youth of all ages in Oregon, Japan, Myanmar (Burma) and Indonesia, I have been able to work directly with students of all ages and have supported organisations grow with a focus on local resilience and community empowerment. Years prior to (and also while) working as an educator, I gained significant experience in: event management and organisation, leadership and organisational re-structuring, systems thinking and design, as well as, mediation and conflict resolution. It is my hope to continue to use and develop these skills in my hometown of Kansas City. Brett grew up in Kansas City and began playing bass as a teen. Sitting in with KC blues greats, such as Lonnie Ray (http://www.lonnierayband.com/), Sonny Kenner (https://www.last.fm/music/Sonny+Kenner), he continued playing after winning awards in his High School Jazz ensemble (the Blue Notes). In 2011, Brett Moved to Japan which began a 11 year stay in Asia seeing him play around in Myanmar (Burma), Indonesia and India. I subscribe to the motto that as musicians and educators, it is our responsibility to reflect our truth and using our voice (our agency) to help others.Overall, kindness is the best legacy we can leave behind and I strive to bring this to all relationships.
