Solar Suburbs is a not-for-profit community association whose aims are to eliminate the existing regulatory, financial, informational and social barriers that currently prevent widespread implementation of residential rooftop solar (PV) systems. By eliminating these barriers and implementing community engagement and activation initiatives, we aim to create “solar suburbs” which have unprecedented penetration of solar installation rates across Australia.Responsibilities encompassed founding the voluntary association, establishing and building strategicrelationships with tertiary institutions, technology providers, local government and community groups, identifying sources of funding and promoting the association on an ongoing basis.Successfully secured a NSW government grant of $55,000 as part of a consortium with the purpose of investigating the barriers mentioned above, with report successfully delivered in 2016.

As Commercial Manager – Partnerships, I took a relationship-based approach to working with clients to ensure that they benefited from EP&T’s full suite of in-house developed, tech-driven energy, water and waste management capabilities. Over 5.5 years I worked closely with our engineering, R&D and finance teams to design, win and implement multi-$million programs to achieve targeted improvements in operational and energy efficiency performance for large Office / Retail / Industrial portfolios of listed real estate investment trusts (REITs), directly resulting in reduced costs and emissions and increased NABERS ratings. Once the technology was implemented, I also met with clients on a monthly basis to review the results of the ongoing service provided by our building performance analysts, which ensured that both I and EP&T were accountable to our clients' contracted expectations. I also worked closely with the R&D team to provide practical feedback from our clients and the industry, which further underpinned ongoing product and service development.

This role required out-of-hours work, international travel, and a sensitivity to international client needs. Reviewed the course content and examination procedures and obtained a high-level understanding of the exam requirements and requisite competency levels. Undertook initial assessments and identified each student’s abilities; provided substantive feedback to each individual in a collaborative and non threatening manner. Developed and taught learning programmes in an entertaining and stimulating manner to build rapport and interest in the programme. Conducted regular formal and informal testing, including mock examinations. Results: Classes had a very low attrition rate and all students achieved high results.Promoted to a Senior Teacher position within two months of joining the Company and was asked to mentor a number of new teachers. Met with each teacher and discussed their individual circumstances, professional backgrounds and teaching experience. Reviewed course allocation with each new teacher and provided guidance on course approach and content plans. Mentored and developed the skills of each new teacher through the generation of a feedback form and attending lessons being taught by the new teachers. Results: All teachers who participated in the mentorship programme successfully gained full teacher accreditation.

Conducted a review of customer interaction operations of a large financial institution with a focus on the complaints handling system. Met with the client and agreed the project scope. Extensively interviewed client staff and analysed process documentation to determine existing procedures. Coordinated regular status update meetings with the client and provided feedback. Amalgamated results and produced the final report which incorporated legislative and best practice requirements and recommendations for improvement. Results: Submitted a comprehensive review report which was praised by the client. Received a request from the client to conduct the same review the following year.Co-authored a submission to a government working party on proposed amendments to the Australian Standard on Compliance Programmes. Researched issues surrounding the proposed amendments and examined the scope of the Request for Submission. Met with key staff to confirm the Firm’s position. Drafted the submission ensuring that it incorporated relevant internal input. Liaised with the government body to confirm aspects of the submission. Results: The submission was published and successfully incorporated into the amendment of the Standard.

Evaluated submitted documentation and determined whether applicants qualified for an AFS license. Made recommendations to team leaders in respect of applications and completed follow-up enquiries on marginal applications, including conducting surveillance and verification visits where necessary. Results: Successfully achieved all technical and time based requirements and was formally acknowledged by management in respect of the high standard of final output.Prepared and provided general legal advice on the Financial Services Reform Act during a six month secondment to the Project Office. Responded to public requests for advice on compliance with the Act. Managed case files that were opened for public enquiries where a high level of technical assistance was required. Identified complex cases where a formal legal opinion was applicable, drafted the opinion for sign off by Legal Counsel and followed the case through to sign-off and closure. Results: Completed all objectives in an effective and timely manner and received a request to stay on in the role with the Project Office.Elected to be a staff representative and asked to sit on the Issues Group Team which was established to identify and escalate matters which adversely impacted on staff. Liaised with colleagues and cultivated a thorough understanding of the concerns that were identified by staff as impacting on performance. In conjunction with staff, formulated amendments to existing processes that would resolve the substantive issues. Results: Considerably improved the efficiency and morale of the team by quantifying to Management the need for change which resulted in the resolution of a number of key issues.
