I'm lucky enough to do work I really enjoy. Writing software, it's... multi-faceted:- It's problem solving. You are constantly providing solutions for users problems, both big and small.- It's creative. You may not be inventing the iPhone, but you can still be doing something a little innovative, something that gives you a sense of achievement.- It's interesting. Technology evolves so, you don't have to wait for Christmas for new toys.- It's collaborative. People can have different ideas on how to proceed but with open minds and respect, the results are often beyond what a single person might have achieved. It sounds like a cliche, but a good team really is more than the sum of it's parts.None-the-less I still like tinkering with hardware. I was fortunate enough to spend some time working at Telstra Research Labs developing prototype systems to read / write data from remote telemetry systems and cameras. Couldn't believe I was getting paid to do that. Also, I keep finding excuses to do things with single board computers like the Nano Pi.
