Profile bio

About Brett Smith

I’m an experienced Production Supervisor with over 17 years working in the steel industry. I have recently made the move to the oil and gas industry with Imperial Oil. I’d like to say I gathered a lot of my knowledge and skills from going to school but that’s not the case here. Quite frankly, school and I never got along. I preferred joining the workforce and gathering my skills along the way. I’ve been very fortunate to learn from and gather information from experienced individuals with many years in the industry. I also discovered very early in my career that if you listen to your coworkers and absorb as much information about a problem, anything can be conquered with teamwork and dedication. You may think you know everything about the process but I found out there’s always someone that knows more than you. It’s what you do with that information and knowledge that matters. Be a sponge and learn as much as you can because they won’t be around your whole career. I’m always interested in learning about new processes and I always put 100% effort in to make sure things are done safely and done the right way!“It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.” - Steve Jobs

Listed skills include Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Manufacturing, Metallurgy, and 21 others.
