Brett hit the ground running in 1989 with Roxx Gang, the first rock band signed to Virgin America, and soon added The Mojo Gurus (Universal Records, MRI/Sony/RED) and the Dex Romweber Duo (Bloodshot, Third Man), among others. While overseeing the late career resurgence of Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Louvin (Louvin Brothers) --mutli artist projects, indie rock tours and a mainstream biography, he caught the attention of Rainmaker Music Management. While at Rainmaker, he started managing the careers of Tony nominated jazz singer Ann Hampton Callaway, three time BMA nominees The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, NEA Jazz Master and three time Grammy winner Ramsey Lewis and three time ACM Vocal Duo of the Year nominees Steel Magnolia. He has since rebooted Steele Management with this roster while adding four time BMA winner (Best Harmonica) Jason Ricci and blues-roots guitar guru and BMA nominee Damon Fowler. He also owns Steele Records which founded in 2022. The boutique label has released records by jazz legend Ramsey Lewis and internationally known guitar maker Paul Reed Smith among others.
