Investigation of redox differences between normal and cancer cells and the relation to chemoresistance• Studied the redox/Fyn/c-Cbl pathway dysfunction in glioblastoma• Discovered a novel mechanism of chemoresistance involving the protein Cool-1, that when targeted rescues oxidant mediated receptor degradation and alters many properties of glioblastoma cells including in-vivo tumorigenicity • Supervised and mentored 3 research technicians, 6 rotating graduate students, and 3 undergraduate students

Studied bacterial communities in Adirondack lakes using molecular techniques• Participated in large scale EPA funded study of the effects of acid rain on bacterial species in lake water• Multiple semesters of independent research involving molecular analysis of lakes including sample collection, DNA isolation, molecular cloning, DNA analysis, data analysis, and preparation of results for presentation
