I am a Texas lawyer with offices in Houston and Austin practicing at DLA Piper, a leading global law firm that specializes in serving business clients, especially those needing seamless service across national borders. I help clients in many industries solve their commercial disputes through the courts and in arbitration. A large part of my work includes helping clients defend their rights on appeal.In addition to my work for domestic companies, a significant part of my practice involves assisting foreign clients navigate US Courts. I've represented clients from Mexico, Brazil, England, China, Canada, Argentina, and Turkey in litigation, arbitration and appeals in the US. I have experience handling the unique legal issues that come with cross-border disputes like obtaining or preventing access to information stored abroad (with attendant cross-border data-privacy issues), invoking or defeating foreign sovereign immunity and other jurisdictional challenges, and international collections.I also keep a very active pro bono docket working with individuals and such organizations as Kids in Need of Defense, Texas Appleseed, National Veterans Legal Services Program, and the Texas Civil Rights Project on various projects. I have handled immigration cases, prison-rights litigation, and appeals against the state for access to information, among other matters.
