We're aiming to influence public policy and resources towards improving the education and employment outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, by developing a cutting edge research and policy agenda. I'm currently supporting colleagues at EEF to develop the government-funded, sector-led National Tutoring Programme. I am also concluding a project with NIESR that linked several datasets (including LEO and the NPD) to get a better understanding of employment opportunities for disadvantaged young people. So far we have published nine reports.

Supporting education policy work at Bright Blue

Developing policy positions and advising staff of the changing policy landscape. In addition to writing several policy reports (see publications), my research and analysis has supported a range of press stories including on national primary offer day (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-36054909) and a BBC reality check piece on grammar schools. Supporting MPs and their staff with education policy issues, including:*Briefings for debates, OPQs, and constituency meetings*Liaising with Ministerial Special Adviser's to support political objectives*Template correspondence responses to campaign emails

Advising councillors on policy, political and community issues affecting their work including: briefings, speaking notes, research, analysis, drafting positions and press releases. Particular focus on investigating allegations of corruption and malpractice against the Executive Mayor.

Research internship conducting a literature review to underpin the charities report The Bradley Review: 5 years on. The Bradley Report reviewed people with mental health problems or learning disabilities in the criminal justice system, this follow up report looked at the progress made towards delivering his recommendations.

Advising councillors on policy, political and community issues affecting their work including: briefings, speaking notes, research, analysis, drafting positions and press releases. Topics including education, planning, council constitution and corporate governance.

Purfleet

Starting as a maternity cover in the sales ledger team, and kept on to assist the management accounts team. I worked on a range of issues including account reconciliation, intercompany accounts, internal reporting, journals, statutory returns (e.g Intrastat). I completed the AAT qualification during this time and remain an MAAT.
