I am a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a major in Media Studies and a minor in Global Poverty & Practice. Growing up in a lower socioeconomic environment propelled me to want to take advantage of the unique opportunities that a higher education institution like Berkeley would be able to provide me.This involved joining professional and social organizations that helped me build a community away from home & set up with the tools necessary to gain internships. Some notable internships experience that I had range from working as a Social Media Intern at Curology to my most recent Data Analysis Intern at Dell Technology. Though these experiences allowed me to gain notable industry knowledge, by far the most critical experience during my undergraduate career was studying abroad in the Netherlands for my last semester. I lived in Utrecht for four months on the other side of the pond learning and most importantly living, immersed by a culture I had no previous engagements with. This experience pressured me to reevaluate my professional endeavors outside of university and choose a career path that not only will allow me to learn professionally but also grow personally. I hope to diversify my professional skill set to continue the student first mentality that was honed through my experience at Berkeley, but also allow me to be in a position where I am not as easily replaceable. It’s been a tough past year with layoffs and I want to bounce back to place myself in a more comfortable position. I want to utilize these newfound skills to find a role that can fit my pre-existing knowledge in marketing and data to find an opportunity that not only will compensate well but also allow me the creative freedom to make executive decisions. I can bring a holistic understanding of sales and social media in understanding how data can empower lower socioeconomic communities, like the ones I come from, to diversify the future workforce. Especially in these turbulent times, I believe it is crucial that we continue to learn and expand from these setbacks in order to truly paint a picture of hope for our communities.
