Project Worker
CurrentI joined Barnardo’s as a volunteer in September 2008. After successfully completing the Volunteer Training course in March 2009 I became an active volunteer with Hartbeat. As a volunteer I applied for an Emotional Literacy post at Hartbeat. I was suitable but unsuccessful on this occasion. I was however offered and accepted a vacant full time Project Worker post in April 2010 and I’ve enjoyed everyday so far, even the very demanding and challenging days.My current role and responsibilities include:• Development of services including devising an anger management course for young people.• Provision of emotional literacy support for young people in primary and secondary schools across Hartlepool.• Reduction in young peoples offending behaviour as part of the final warning programme.• Provision of alternative education support programmes for young people which includes recognized qualifications in the foundation learning catalogue.• Providing young people with support around anger management and any other issues that may affect them.• Conducting initial assessments and full initial assessments of need to identify relevant support packages specific to young peoples needs relevant support work with both individuals and groups of young people. • Also provided independent information, advice and guidance to young people.
