About Brian Bennett
I have worked at the National Archives and Records Administration for 16 years. Currently I am the Program Manager in the Records Retrieval Branch I oversee the daily functions of 4 teams consisting of 80-100 team members. Although I started out as a student at the Civilian Personnel Records Center (CPR) Search and Refile section and then worked my way up to an Archives Technician at the Military Personnel Records Center (MPR). I was also a technician in the Research Room which dealt with Walk-In requests of Military Records and Civilian Records. After that I became Supervisor in the Records Retrieval Branch which had a team of 17 individuals and now as the Program Manager. During my time as the Program Manager I have worked with multiple departments within the agency and other agencies outside of NARA to complete the mission of helping our Veterans. During this time I have cultivated an enjoyable working environment for my team as we all work successfully to complete our mission.

Serve as a Supervisor Archives Technician in the Records Retrieval Branch. I am responsible for directing, assisting and supervising 19 individuals. Served as an Archives Aid for the Civilian Personnel Records Center, responsible for researching and verifying records. • Pull and complete 127’s for civilian cases. • Expert knowledge of locations of various records groups to facilitate the search for requested records using finding aid reports. • Performed search for the appropriate records, verifying and identifying data to assure that the proper record is withdrawn. • Provided extensive customer service by responding to inquiries with the desired information and documents. • Performed duties relating to matching records, sorting folders, staging records, interfiling and basic data entry. • Searched and re-filed finding aid report lists using location registers to find medical and civilian personnel records.• Identified problems and recommended solutions to prevent errors from occurring during record transfer from one center to another. • Served as team lead, organizing and executing activities at tasks based on agency objectives. • Composed written replies to complex records requests.
