After completion of Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, was subsequently assigned to the 1-27 Field Artillery as a Combat Medic stationed in Babenhausen, Germany. While also responsible for ongoing training and physical readiness, my duties included: transportation and treatment of injured servicemen and their families; administering vaccinations; and conducted examinations for combat readiness. Re-enlisted to join 101st Airborne Division 1-506 Infantry Regiment as a Combat Medic stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. Duties included: patient screening, triage, assessment, and treatment; transport of emergency patients to base hospital; medical coverage for various training exercises; training new soldiers to unit standard operating procedures. Deployed to Iraq from June 2006 until December 2006 as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Assigned to battalion aid station trauma team stationed at a combat outpost in Ramadi. Duties included: treatment of combat and non-combat casualties; treatment of wounded Iraqi servicemen, civilians, and contractors; stabilization of wounded for transport to higher echelon medical facilities.Deployed to Afghanistan March 2008 until April 2009. Assigned as a senior line medic for direct support for Operation Enduring Freedom. Duties included: medic support for missions and patrols in combat zones; treatment of military and non-military casualties when assigned to force protection at base; responded to emergency situations as part of a quick reaction force (QRF). Duties cycled between mission patrol, force protection, and QRF on a weekly basis. Redeployed to Fort Campbell and finished remainder of enlistment.
