I joined Bazaarvoice Belfast as the second design hire in 2018, when the company was still a relatively new presence on the Irish tech scene. Initially, I was responsible for designing their end-to-end sampling offering, which helped customers launch products with authentic customer reviews on day one and boosted sales and brand engagement. From then, I led the design of several other products, including catalog management, syndication, review translation, user management, identity authentication, and their flagship ratings and reviews content management solution.As an embedded member of the product trio in empowered product development teams, I strongly influenced strategic planning and solution delivery. I added value at every stage of the product life cycle by forming close relationships with DRIs and stakeholders and facilitating design thinking workshops to better understand problems and generate innovative ideas. I was also involved in creating, maintaining, and contributing to our design system, validating design decisions with end users, and working closely with engineering teams during implementation. Following a product or feature release, I tracked outcome-based learnings, iterated on designs and fed them back into the development cycle.I was a member of the culture committee at Bazaarvoice for over a year, during which time I served as the point of contact for our charity partner. I am proud that my work contributed towards helping more than 1.3 billion online shoppers make informed purchasing decisions each month.

As the UX Design Manager at Hermes (now known as Evri), I was responsible for overseeing UX design at the company and managing the in-house UX and front-end development teams. While I was in Leeds, we made significant progress towards the ambitious goal of moving all customers and clients onto a single platform, the biggest digital transformation the company had ever undertaken.As the UX strategy owner for all workstreams, I worked closely with my teams and other stakeholders to execute plans that aligned with Hermes' broader goals. The high-quality, user-centered digital experiences we designed played a major role in helping Hermes fulfill its pledge to become the carrier of choice for all businesses and consumers in Great Britain.I ensured that day-to-day UX practice was cohesive and adhered to the highest standards, practices, and principles, while proactively acting on emerging opportunities to optimize people, processes, and deliverables. I encouraged my team to develop cross-discipline relationships to help improve collaboration across squads and educate internal groups about user experience best practices and methodologies.Unfortunately, I had to leave Hermes earlier than I would have liked due to an opportunity for my family to relocate back to Ireland in July 2018. I thoroughly enjoyed leading the design team and would be excited to have the opportunity to help grow, support, and lead another strong design team in the future.

At Skorch, I worked with and advised local early-stage startups and charities on how to make the most of digital growth opportunities. My consultative role involved: engaging in discovery and user research, running digital strategic planning workshops, training teams in UX best practices, and in some cases, leading design implementation.

For over three years, I co-led the UX team at InVision AG, a German workforce management software company based in Düsseldorf. As part of a multi-disciplinary product team, I was responsible for designing customer and user experiences as the company moved its products to the cloud and changed its operational models. At InVision, I led user and market research studies with customers like Xerox, Specsavers, Kohls, and AXA Insurance.

I started working as a freelance print and web designer while I was in high school. For over 10 years, I worked with my own clients and local design agencies. I continued to offer freelance and contract design services throughout university and in my early years of employment.

As a middleweight digital designer reporting directly to the Digital Creative Director, I worked closely with well-known Irish clients such as Bank of Ireland, Queen’s University Belfast, Ulster University, Heart, Chest & Stroke, Boojum, ICON plc, and Sport Changes Lives. My role involved taking digital projects from ideation to execution; my main responsibilities were UX, visual design, and front-end development. During my time at Mammoth, I helped design award-winning websites and social media campaigns for clients in various sectors.

While studying for my MA in Multidisciplinary Design, I worked as a lecturing assistant for Ulster University’s School of Art & Design undergraduate programs. I mainly focused on supporting first-year students studying interaction design. I facilitated seminars and lab sessions and occasionally assisted in lectures.
