Served as the grassland bird conservation specialist for Audubon's Conservation Ranching program in the Dakotas. Worked closely with private landowners to facilitate the development of "bird-friendly" grazing regimes. Developed habitat management plans for each ranch. Collected spatial data using ArcGIS Collector. Coordinated grassland bird and vegetation monitoring programs on Audubon's working lands in the Dakotas. This position required excellent communication skills to establish and maintain working relationships with local ranchers.

Assisted in research examining breeding bird use in over 300 grassland fields enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program in the northern Great Plains. Surveyed breeding bird populations in grasslands and associated wetlands using an established monitoring protocol. Recorded vegetation composition and percent coverage of dominant plant species within fields. Classified wetlands based on Stewart and Kantrud classification system. Contacted over 100 private landowners to seek permission to gain access to their property. Entered and proofed data using Micorsoft Excel and Word databases. Identified over 125 species of breeding birds by sight and sound and over 120 plant species.
