I primarily work as an Outdoor Adventure Guide at Mountain Lake Academy, a therapeutic residential placement school for boys, in Lake Placid, NY. In my day to day work, I take small groups of students on day trips and overnights in the expansive Adirondack Park. Trips include hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing and rock climbing. I also teach students outdoor skills, including but not limited to basic orienteering, fire building, water filtration, layering technique, and other personal proficiency skills. On campus, I facilitate therapeutic Adventure Based Counseling and Guided Group Interaction groups that aim to improve their self-perception, peer and familial relationships and discourage destructive habits.
