Work with insurance companies, vendors, management and security companies and banks to ensure competitive bidding for contracts. Derivatives TradingReported to the Managing Director in charge of derivative trading with the brief of finding new trading/business opportunities in Emerging Markets including Latin America/Eastern Europe in both equity derivative and fixed income markets.Initiated development of business in Turkey and Eastern Europe. Established operational infrastructure and identified arbitrage opportunities in those markets. Responsible for managing Eastern European Book consisting of local and dollar assets including Turkish T-Bills/Inflation bonds, Eurobonds, Sovereigns, Convertible Bonds, Credit Default Swaps, Non Deliverable Forwards and trade paper assets in Eastern Europe. Purchased distressed asset book of GKO's/OFZ's (after default) managed portfolio and directed strategy for workout of assets. RESULT: these efforts contributed $25MM USD in 1999/ $30MM in 2000 in profits accounting for 55% of desk revenue.Identified arbitrage opportunities in Latin American derivatives market including convertible bonds, options, special situations, relative value opportunities and cost of carry trades. RESULT: contributed $3MM USD in net profits.Developed equity derivative products for institutional/high net worth client base including structured notes, equity linked notes, sector baskets and leveraged notes. RESULT: contributed $2.5MM to net contribution. Led international team on behalf of non-deliverable forward claimants in the restructuring of Moscow based Uneximbank. This lead to the successful conclusion of a deal to restructure the bank assets and to pay off International creditors. RESULT: Nomura received a recovery fee of $1.7MM.

To increase the desks ability to offer structured products and exotic options, valued and developed structured products to be marketed by the sales team. Structured OTC S&P500/LATAM exotics, sector baskets and single stock derivatives sold to institutional investors in Hong Kong, Germany and Switzerland. RESULT: This contributed to the sales product mix and also provided 3MM USD to group profitsDeveloped tracking basket analysis versus Bovespa used to establish Index Arbitrage operation in Brazil. This effort allowed the head of the desk to more effectively exploit the divergence of cash versus futures. RESULT: Increased revenue by $2MM compared with a steep loss prior to optimization.

Traded proprietary Convertible book covering Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand during Tokyo and London sessions. Identified prospective arbitrage opportunities based on undervalued embedded options and cash flow analysis. RESULT: Augmented US Convertible efforts and expanded efforts to Japan/South East Asia adding 1.2MM net to bottom line for a small operation.Provided quantitative support to Equity Derivative Sales/Trading business. Developed proprietary models and hedging strategies for Asians, Barriers, Quanto's, Lookbacks, spead, compound options. Implemented trinomial options for American style Exotics. Models were integrated into proprietary risk management system Delta Book allowing desk to manage exposure of expanding structured products book.

Fixed Income Research Provided quantitative support for the Fixed Income Trading and Sales Operation. Implemented system for analyzing Barbell opportunities and cheap/rich bonds used by Government Trading, Sales Team to recommend trades to Bank of England and Bundesbank. RESULT: This generated several million dollars in sales revenue for the desk.Developed proprietary systems based on technical analysis indicators providing Buy/Sell signals for the US T Bond and German Bund Futures markets.Developed volatility analysis using trading cones.
