I have twelve years of teaching experience, mostly in urban settings (New Bedford, MA & West Los Angeles, and Venice, CA). My teaching always extended beyond the classroom, as I coached (soccer & basketball mostly) and was available to my students on the recess yard and throughout the building. I teach according to the content of textbooks and standards, but bring lessons to life by making genuine connections with my students - by learning about their lives and sharing about my own. I’m certified as a secondary English language educator from the state of California. I’m from a family of teachers; I’m a “born educator.” I may have been away from formal teaching for the past few years, but I’ve stayed close to children and learning by caring for my own two kids and being a part of their educational communities.
