Processed and managed the private aids to navigation procedure for offshore and inshore oil platforms. Worked directly with various oil companies, using blueprints and schematic drawings of oil platforms to ensure industry partners were in compliance with the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations.

Nantucket, Ma

As deck department supervisor, managed the section’s budget, administrative duties, and personnel operations for ten crewmembers. Performed as the project manager for two major boat yard maintenance acquisition periods, successfully keeping the project on time and within budget. Served as the boat asset manager and rescue and survival systems program manager, ensuring all assets and equipment used during multi mission operations were in top condition. Ensured all Coast Guard safety, training and maintenance polices were implemented and followed. Led the department through an internal safety audit, where all boats, safety equipment and training programs scored well above the Coast Guard average.

West Palm Beach, Florida Area

As department head, directed a team of more than 20 personnel and oversaw the maintenance and upkeep of four Coast Guard assets in one of the service’s busiest and most challenging areas of operation. Conducted and led search/rescue and law enforcement operations, and operated as the patrol commander for major waterway events to ensure the safety and security of the public boaters. Acted as a liaison with federal, state, county and local first responders and law enforcement agencies. Served as the morale committee chairman and handled the unit’s morale budget and the sale and inventory of unit logo gear.As training coordinator, oversaw and led a comprehensive qualification and certification program for over 65 members of the unit using TMT. After implementing personal improvements to TMT to provide a more efficient process, Coast Guard Headquarters used the modifications as a model for other units and eventually made changes to the nationwide program based on the unit’s successful training program.

Supervised and managed a five-person department, and oversaw personnel operations for all 12 crew members. Handled upkeep and maintenance of all major exterior components of a major Coast Guard asset in a high-tempo, stressful environment. Acted as a lead law enforcement officer, senior deck operations officer, and a lead search and rescue coordinator for numerous events. Oversaw and led the successful completion of three multi-million dollar ship refurbishment contracts. Advanced to Petty Officer First Class

Yorktown, Va

Served as lead instructor aboard a Coast Guard small boat. Taught over 520 junior enlisted personnel boat handling, navigation, emergency management, leadership and team coordination. Advanced to Petty Officer Second Class

Assisted in the seamanship and navigational training of over 1,800 future military officers. Served as lead damage control fire team, boat crew member, surface rescue swimmer, and acted as team lead for all deck operations during assigned watches – all aboard Cutter Eagle in New London, Connecticut. Performed as boarding team, boat crew, and radio communication operator at Station Tillamook Bay, Oregon. Advanced to Petty Officer Third Class

Alabama

Served as inventory control specialist at the Goodwater, AL, manufacturing plant. Took production schedules, compared to on hand inventory, and placed orders for the manufacturing needs. Oversaw and assisted in establishing inventory control and receiving practices for a brand new manufacturing facility in Eclectic, AL.
