Performs work in the functional areas of installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the Town’s water systemOperates tapping machine to make water hook upsOperates pipe saw to remove, repair and replace damaged and/or broken pipe sectionsResponds to water main breaks and other water emergencies as neededOperates small and large trucks as assignedPerforms installation, maintenance, repair and reading of water meters as neededOperates basic hand tools, power tools and equipment, i.e., chainsaws, jack hammers, etc. as neededPerforms manual work in the laying of pipes, patching and/or resurfacing roads and related construction and maintenance work as neededTests and flushes fire hydrants and water lines as needed.Performs call before you dig mark outs for water and sewer as needed

Regularly deals with the public; by phone, email or in person in responding to utility issues including but not limited too; billing inquiries, water and sewer customer issues, final read requests, etc.Performs a variety of skilled duties in support of the Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) team including reading, building, programming, installing, activating, inspecting, diagnosing, replacing, and routing AMI meters.Training other employees on meter and communication device programmingProficient in Sensus, Flexnet, and GIS

Performs installation, maintenance, repair and reading of water meters as needed. Coordinates the meter installation work with the Superintendent of Utilities and the Assistant Utility Engineer. Troubleshoots issues that arise with the other water meter installers. Part time office work: Scheduling appointments, making phone calls to customers.
