BHS Solutions Ltd is a Wellington based workplace and business level safety and quality risk management company providing services across New Zealand. I manage the business in addition to being the Principal Safety Consultant.

SafePlus is a new, voluntary, health and safety performance improvement toolkit for businesses, jointly developed by WorkSafe New Zealand, ACC and the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE). It defines what good health and safety looks like, above minimum legal compliance. SafePlus is a performance improvement initiative that is not a traditional compliance audit type product. Only a small pool of carefully selected and trained Accredited Assessors are authorised to conduct SafePlus assessments and provide recommendations aligning to SafePlus Performance Requirements.

The job title speaks for itself. The port trades internationally and therefore the security arrangements are overseen by MNZ under the Maritime Security Act. I am a qualified Port Facility Security Officer in addition to my safety and quality management quals.

As Director of Naval Safety Policy for the Royal New Zealand Navy based at Defence House in Wellington, I reported to the Deputy Chief of Navy. I was the secretary of the Executive Safety Governance Board and I managed the Naval Occupational Safety and Health Team which is based at Devonport.
