One of the initial 5 employees charged with creating the Common Securitization Platform and ultimately Common Securitizations Solutions (CSS), a joint venture between Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Beginning in 2012, led the creation of a prototype and played a major role in presenting the strategic approach for ultimate implementation to senior leaders at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHFA. After gaining buy in and funding, the multi-year project transformed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s backend securities processing (Issuance, Fed Payments, Disclosures) to a new, cloud based architecture, with collocated data. Since its launch, CSS has supported over 80% of all US mortgages, administering a portfolio of $6.4 trillion worth of mortgage-backed securities.Led the software delivery and technical operations organization consisting of 100-150 professionals, and annual budgets of $20-60 million reporting directly to the CIO and COO. Operated as the interim CIO in 2021 reporting directly to the CEO. Regularly provided the Board of Directors updates and technical guidance to inform strategic decisions.Spearheaded teams that designed, architected, and developed cloud solution built in AWS. Given the size and complexity of the solution, resiliency and scale were of upmost concern for our clients. Delivered solution that worked across AWS availability zones and AWS regions in an Active/Active configuration. This reduced potential RTO times by over 90%.Fostered innovative organization that implemented solutions to improve cost utilization in AWS (EKS, Autoscaling, Lambda, SPOT instances etc.) that reduced production expenses by 20%.Designed executive dashboards and operational monitoring tools to manage daily and strategic activity. Introduced Workflow, Robotics, Machine Learning, and third-party AI tools to help manage and predict potential incidents in production activity. Over three years, this led to a 20% drop in incidents and 10% reduction in time to resolution.
