Serving in an interim capacity with a fabulous team that operates our public recreation/educational facilities and implements our recreation programs. We put the Recreation in Parks and Recreation!

• Oversee the operation of Warren G. Magnuson Park, a 306-acre park that was formerly a Naval Air Station.• Manage a $2.6 million expense budget and $2 million revenue stream from tenants and special event rentals. This includes budget development experience.• Develop, negotiate, and/or manage up to 65 tenant leases, concession contracts, and licenses outlining public/private partnerships for public service delivery. • Create and implement Request for Proposal (RFP) processes for facility development and management including opening a new, full-service restaurant.• Implement systems to track and measure outcomes in contract compliance, rent payments, cash handling, customer service, revenue generation, and tenant public benefit requirements.• Supervise the Volunteer Programs Unit, providing the organization support in engaging and maintaining a large network of volunteers.• Engage is partnerships across Seattle Parks and Recreation and other City of Seattle Departments to accomplish work tasks and initiatives.• Supervise up to 10 staff, include 7 full-time staff in a union environment.

• Oversaw operations of five community centers in Southeast Seattle. • Directly supervised five Community Center Coordinators who manage 50+ permanent and intermittent staff combined.• Managed an expense budget of $2.7 million dollars and annual revenues reaching $1.2 million during a time of economic challenges.• Cultivated partnerships with Advisory Councils, community leaders, and organizations to maximize program and service opportunities in the Southeast Seattle community centers.• Served as a leader in community development and organizing in a diverse community comprised of 100+ different languages and myriad cultural identities.• Negotiated, drafted, managed, and implemented contracts with several non-profit organizations offering programs and services at Rainier Beach Community Center and Pool.• Engaged a group of Parks staff, other city departments, community leaders, and volunteers to plan and implement the grand opening of Rainier Beach Community Center and Pool, a $25 million new facility in Southeast Seattle.
